Clothes providing our basic needs

In our modern world reducing over-consumption is one of the greatest goals to achieve a greener society.

By using a fermented tea drink, Kombucha, we were able to produce the basis of an environmental friendly well-known leather-like garment. We discovered that the biopolymer is especially well suited to grow plants and other photosynthetic organisms. The biogarmentry develops continuously, purifying the air while wearing it, simultaneously providing a food source by growing edible plants. Cultivating plants on the biodegradable leather questions our relation to clothing. During our first fashion show the public could eat parts of the outfits with edible plants.

Witness the first clothing pieces assembled from the photosynthetic biopolymer in an unconventional fashion show where diversity is celebrated and intersectionality is expressed by means of blurring the lines between art and science.
